Tsubomi Seishin Kan Dojo is an independent Japanese Budo martial arts school. Offering inspired instruction for men, women, and children in Aikido: A Gentle Art of Defense and Iaido: Japanese Swordsmanship. Our teacher, Jonathan Bannister Sensei, achieved a splendid realization in 2006 after more than 25 years of dedicated study with Aikido martial arts master Shuji Maruyama, founder and president of Kokikai Aikido, 23 years of study in All Japan Kendo Federation Iai and Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido, and more than 30 years contemplation of Zen Buddhism.

Today Bannister Sensei's beautiful and powerful techniques emphasize relaxed natural movement. Thus illuminating the essential truths concerning the human condition and the fallacy of violence as a legitimate means of conflict resolution. His spiritual and passionate method of training leads each student to develop calm self-confidence through competence in ethical self-defense. Trainees discover mind-body-spirit coordination, or Ki Power. When our whole human ability is applied in our daily lives we can create a personal and social harmony that will build a more peaceful world. Tsubomi Seishin Kan Dojo is affiliated with Tsubomi Seishin Kan Iaido Dojo of Tokyo, Japan and is a founding member of the non-profit Pacific Northwest Budo Association.
